Latest News and Updates relating to the BYYA

April 2012

Hi guys!

Well the new BYYA website is still under construction, but don't worry it's going to be up and running soon. In the mean time we are continuing to update this one, but also please check out our Twitter feed @BYYA_yoyo and our Facebook Discussion Group to keep up with the latest news and info as well!

So down to the nitty gritty - UK Nationals is coming up! Check out the Events Section for more info on this fantastic event. So keep June 16th free! There will also be a post-contest chill out day on the 17th as well.

We are really stoked about this event - we are confident this will be our biggest and best UK National Yo-Yo contest ever! It's being held at a brand new venue in London called Skilltown, a specific venue created for the development and expansion of freestyle sports. Check out skilltown.blogspot.co.uk for more information.

We are going to be posting out a LOT of information over the next few weeks so check the site, check Facebook and Twitter, and as always any questions please email us info@byya.co.uk

February 2012

Hi all you crazy yo-yo people.

Wanted to drop a quick update in here because of the lack of activity on the BYYA site.

We are currently going through a huge revamp and, courtesy of Mr David Allak are coming up with a new site from scratch. As some of you will have noticed some of the more recent contests over the last year haven't had the rsults posted - I have them all stored so don't worry, once the new site is up and running we will have more people working on it, have more content, and have regular updates hopefully on a weekly basis filled with reviews, tutorials, contests and all that crazy stuff!

In the mean time please bare with us, UK Nationals 2012 is currently being planned and NRC is March 10th! So lots to look forward to.

As always any questions please email us info@byya.co.uk

Cheers!

- Luke

May 2011

Hey everyone!

Apologies for the lack of updates recently, I am planning on trying to get the BYYA site fully kitted out with all the intended documentation/information/etc over the coming months - but becoming an uncle, trying to set-up my own store and buying a house (amongst other things) have really put me behind!

Anywhoo so firstly UK NATIONALS 2011 is all set for July 3rd in Reading, please check out the UK Nationals 2011 tab under the 'Events' section for more info. International players are more than welcome to attend and compete - so if you would like to come and need any help or advice, please get in touch with us via info@byya.co.uk.

Speaking of International - this year's special guest judge is none other than.... PALLI!

That's right! Coming all the way from Iceland (assuming the volcanoes allow him!), team CLYW member Páll Guðmundsson (aka Palli) will be helping out with judging and also putting in a special performance - so make sure you are there to check it out!

This year also saw the first Norther Regional Yo-Yo Contest hosted by our very own Matt Gallacher, in association with the BYYA, all the amazing freestyles are available here http://www.youtube.com/BYYAVid - full results will be posted shortly.

Keep an eye on the site for a list of all the awesome sponsors - and we hope to see you at UK Nationals 2011!

- Luke

February 2011

The European Championships have been and gone - and what an event it was!

There was a last minute venue change, but this venue was just as awesome (if not better) than the Roxy - which was the previous venue - and the organisers have confirmed it will be in the same location next year too! So make sure you attend if you can. More information will be put up here later in the year/

Also NRC IS BACK BABY! Check out the Events section for information on the contest, and please get in touch with us if you have any queries!

January 2011

July 2010

Well the UK National Yo-Yo Contest has been and gone.... and WHAT an event it was!

(X Division Finalists)

A MASSIVELY HUGE THANK YOU to all of our fantastic sponsors. They pulled out all the stops this year and sent us some crazy awesome prizes. Without you guys we literally would not be able to put on this event. I urge anyone who attended to pass on their thanks where possible to the sponsors directly (I know I will be) - all of us greatly appreciate your continued support of UK yo-yoing

(For a full list of sponsors - please see the main BYYA home page)

A huge thank you to my fellow BYYA Board Members Krisztian Kalusza, Arron Sparks and Simon Welch, we all put in a lot of hard work and I am really pleased we were able to pull it off (even if I was a bit of a stressed out wreck!) - so big thanks to you guys.

(1A Champion Krisztian Kaluzsa and his wife Corli who placed 2nd!)

Thank you to everyone who attended, paid entry, bought raffle tickets and just generally made the event fantastic - it was all for you guys and I am glad everyone seemed to enjoy it.

Additional thanks to our guests from over seas - Pac, Bao, Jessica, and the LEGEND that is Kentaro Kimura! We even had someone attend from as far away as Israel. We are honored that you all would make the trip to our humble contest, and hope that we can encourage more players from overseas to attend and share in the fun!

A big thank you to everyone who judged, in particular our special guest Kentaro who BLEW everyone away with his 3A demo. Domo Arigatou Gozaimasu my friend, hope you get to stay in Europe next year and can come along again!

And finally special thankyous to Yoyo mama Grace Gray for looking after me, keeping me chilled, and just generally being awesome - and of course to my mum and dad.

Info about SRC coming soon!

January 2010

2010 is already looking to be an exciting year for Yo-Yos. Yo-Yo companies are setting themselves up for a big craze all over the world.

Lots happening at the London Toy Fair with Duncan, YoYoFactory and Yomega all having a presence there.

If a craze happens or not there is one thing for sure, the BYYA will still be here doing our thing. Plans for the UK National Yo-Yo Contest are already under way, more news to come next moth.

We wish all the UK representatives at the EYYC  the best of luck!

Don Robertson has been in the news and is also attending the EYYC as a special guest. Enjoy a short video of Don on jTV

All for now,

Arron

BYYA founder.
